CD3 Report

Our portable boat cleaning station encourages boaters to clean, dry, drain, and dispose to protect our waters from invasive species. It is equipped with an air compressor, vacuum, boat scrub brush, plug wrench (for removing the boat plug from your boat) as well as tongs to help remove vegetation from under your boat. This summer, the CD3 trailer has lived at the Fontana Boat launch, helping fishermen and recreationalists remove weeds and invasives from their boat trailers. There are also two stationary units: one located at Williams Bay boat launch and another at Lake Geneva boat launch.

Each municipality takes place in the Clean Boats Clean Waters program funded by the DNR. Launch attendants work together to collect information on where boats have been, inform lake users what harmful species to look out for, and aid in removal of invasive species from boat trailers. The CD3 stations work hand in hand with CBCW inspections to prevent the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS). AIS can harm lake ecosystems by outcompeting native species and lowering water quality.

REPORT:
In the summer of 2025, clean boats clean water inspections have taken place for over 800 hours! And more are in progess each day. Each inspection is one step closer to an even more desirable Geneva Lake!

The CD3 trailer unit collects data on its use,  which allows us to learn how the unit is being used and analyze the data to better protect our lake. We recieve the data at the end of each year. Click on the buttons below to learn more about CD3 and how CBCW works!
